- Phase Three of the renovations to the Perry County Courthouse are set to begin, following a unanimous vote by the Perry County Commission last night. Although some of the Commissioners expressed their dissatisfaction regarding the repairs of the antebellum courthouse, they ultimately voted in favor of advertising for construction bids. The renovations first began with Phase Two, which repaired the North and South porches, the steps leading up to both entrances, and the railing. This phase was expected to be completed after Thanksgiving. Now, Phase Three is set to focus on the eaves and woodwork around the building. The Perry County Courthouse holds a special distinction in that it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
