At last, up and rising 100ft high into the sky, stands a towering observation deck, built for avid birders and nature enthusiasts. Proudly overlooking the lush greenery of the surrounding landscape, the tower offers a one-of-a-kind experience, allowing visitors to witness birds in their natural habitats from an aerial perspective. Originally a fire tower, this majestic structure was purchased for a mere $10 and then transformed into the perfect bird-watching spot by four dedicated students. With precision and skill, they disassembled the tower, had it galvanized for preservation, and then reassembled it in its new and picturesque location. But the transformation didn’t stop there. The tower was also given new stairs, carefully designed to provide easy access to the top, while also ensuring the safety of all its visitors. A stunning boardwalk and handrail were also constructed, seamlessly blending in with the natural surroundings and allowing visitors to wander through the trees and over the tranquil lake below. Now, standing tall and proud, this tower not only offers a breathtaking view, but also serves as a symbol of dedication and passion towards nature conservation. It is a testament to how with a little imagination and hard work, we can repurpose and give new life to old structures, creating something truly spectacular in the process. The tower was recently reopened to the public, so start planning your trip to Perry Lakes Park!
