In celebration of Black History Month, the Order of Eastern Star Taylor’s Pride Chapter #712 recognized Dr. Marcia Smiley was honored in Celebration of Black History Month by the Order of Eastern Star Taylor’s Pride Chapter #712 for her services as the first female Superintendent of the Perry County School District. 

Dr. Smiley is a product of the Perry County District having graduated from Francis Marion High School. Dr. Smiley matriculated at Judson College earning her bachelor’s degree in education. Dr. Smiley also holds an earned doctorate degree. 

Dr. Smiley has more than 27 years in education working her way up the ladder from classroom teacher to Assistant Superintendent and now Superintendent. A product of a single parent home, Dr. Smiley is a shining example of what hard work and determination can produce.
